Condoleezza Rice: China Wants To Shift The Narrative On COVID-19, Don't Let Them | Video | RealClearPolitics | INTELLIGENT WORLD TODAY | Scoop.it

Hoover Institution Fellow Condoleezza Rice speaks with Hoover's Tom Gilligan about the "reckoning" the Chinese Communist Party is likely to face over it's handling of the COVID-19 outbreak and both the public and private conversations U.S. officials should have with them.

Rice primarily accuses China of a coverup of the early outbreak of the virus, which cost the world time that could have been used to prepare. It is "very hard to get answers from China," she said.

We have to have a really honest assessment about where this started, how it started, when it started, when the Communist Party knew, and why they didn't get on it, that's the public part.

The private part is: You have to go to the Chinese and say, "You can't keep doing this."

China May Have Identified Patient Zero in the Coronavirus Outbreak

China May Have Identified Patient Zero in the Coronavirus Outbreak | INTELLIGENT WORLD TODAY | Scoop.it
The COVID-19 outbreak didn’t make a huge international splash until late January, when China quarantined the entire city of Wuhan, where the epidemic had emerged — now, evidence is emerging that the disease started spreading in late 2019.

Notably, the South China Morning Post is now reporting that Chinese authorities may have identified “patient zero” — the first human, in other words, to catch the SARS-CoV-2 virus — in an infection that dates back to mid-November.

Al Cannistras insight:

somebody's trash is someone else's treasure? apparently, no more from the Chinese viewpoint. But - perhaps the world should look at Sweden - their system is so efficient that they have run out of trash and are looking for more to keep their recycling plants busy!

Whose fingerprints are on the coronavirus?

Whose fingerprints are on the coronavirus? | INTELLIGENT WORLD TODAY | Scoop.it
This may well be why China recently told the U.S. to "correct its mistakes" concerning the origin of the virus. A day after President Donald Trump described coronavirus as the "Chinese Virus" on Twitter, Beijing responded, "We express strong indignation and objection to such stigmatization." But obviously, China finds itself on the horns of a dilemma about detailing development of the virus. After all, despite some U.S. and Australian government participation, the Chinese were the ones ultimately putting it all together and, in the end, responsible for its accidental release.
