Joshua Tree May Feel The Effects Of Government Shutdown For Hundreds Of Years

Joshua Tree May Feel The Effects Of Government Shutdown For Hundreds Of Years | INTELLIGENT WORLD TODAY | Scoop.it
It could take Joshua Tree National Park up to 300 years to recover from damage it sustained during the partial government shutdown, a former park superintendent said Saturday.
Al Cannistra's insight:

Another example of the Media trying to shift the focus to blame Trump.

.

Why are we not asking the question – What have Americans become that they do the damage?” Americans are to blame for their own action. Were it possible to find and prosecute the folks that did the damage, I would like to see something beyond the maximum penalty.

.

Put the blame where blame belongs.

Hate in America: Matthew Shepard, Pipe Bombs, Pittsburgh Synagogue

Hate in America: Matthew Shepard, Pipe Bombs, Pittsburgh Synagogue | INTELLIGENT WORLD TODAY | Scoop.it
What We All Must Do
Ron Halber, executive director of the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Washington, asked the question all of us are asking: “What is happening in our America?”

He went on: “The anti-Semitic, racism and bigotry have become normalized. Combine that with the accessibility of social media, mental illness, available weaponry and now you have a toxic brew that will culminate in violence.”

Halber wasn’t content with handwringing, though. He said the most important thing we can do to reverse the uptick in hate crimes is a “change in our national discourse.” That prompted sustained applause.

But he wasn’t done. “Something has become rotten in America’s moral fiber in our society,” he bellowed, “and we must and we will take America back.”
Al Cannistra's insight:

there are those who would try to shift it all to Trump rather than accept culpability....   we are in an America where late night talk shows are ALL anti-President (no respect whatsoever) - it feeds hate - we are in a society that believes we have the right to be be be belligerent, we are a society that has to find blame, not accept responsibility - we are a society headed for implosion - and an end.

.

time to change the course set by the media day after day (the media/Trump war)...  time to demand that it ends - or we do not survive - of that i am certain

Federal probe into Trump’s lawyer seeks records about two women who alleged affairs with the president

Federal probe into Trump’s lawyer seeks records about two women who alleged affairs with the president | INTELLIGENT WORLD TODAY | Scoop.it

Federal prosecutors investigating President Trump’s personal attorney, Michael D. Cohen, are seeking records related to two women who received payments in 2016 after alleging affairs with Trump years before — adult-film star Stormy Daniels and ex-Playboy model Karen McDougal — according to two people familiar with the matter.

Al Cannistra's insight:

Whatever side you are on - do you not see the DANGER here? The task given to Muelller was to investigate a Trump - Russia connection. It has been taken way beyond that. There is an agenda and some powerful people behind it. The actions are a danger to the USA and all it stands for. If you are a liberal, you may be happy in the pursuit of Trump - would you be happy if tables were turned on one of your in the future?

Europe Reckons With Its Depleted Armies

Europe Reckons With Its Depleted Armies | INTELLIGENT WORLD TODAY | Scoop.it
Across NATO’s European member states, shortfalls riddle land, sea, and air forces following years of defense cutbacks, leading officials to acknowledge that U.S. President Donald Trump has a point that spending has to rise.
Al Cannistra's insight:

"European officials were quick to point out that NATO members don’t owe dues to the U.S., but they acknowledged Mr. Trump wasn’t wrong: Europe lacks the capabilities to defend itself"  -  AND  -  "leaders said they would publicly advocate higher military spending for the sake of their own national security, not American demands. But they also privately told Mr. Trump they agreed with him, according to diplomats." - So many are against him - and no, he is not perfect - but in many things he is right. Sometimes, against all odds, a leader must steer another course

Trump has a plan for government workers. They’re not going to like it. | INTELLIGENT WORLD TODAY | Scoop.it
Hiring freezes, an end to automatic raises, a green light to fire poor performers, a ban on union business on the government’s dime and less generous pensions — these are the contours of the blueprint emerging under Republican control of Washington in January.

These changes were once unthinkable to federal employees, their unions and their supporters in Congress. But Trump’s election as an outsider promising to shake up a system he told voters is awash in “waste, fraud and abuse” has conservatives optimistic that they could do now what Republicans have been unable to do in the 133 years since the civil service was created.
Al Cannistra's insight:

A business approach - long overdue....

Can Trump counter Mueller by handing out pardons?

Can Trump counter Mueller by handing out pardons? | INTELLIGENT WORLD TODAY | Scoop.it

Presidential pardon power is so broad, some legal scholars say, it even allows for pardons issued with 'corrupt intent.' Now, Democrats are moving to head off any potential efforts by President Trump to wield the power in ways that might undercut federal investigations.

Al Cannistra's insight:

AND THIS IS WHAT IS WRONG - and an unprecedented DANGER to the USA....

"Mueller was appointed to investigate alleged collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia to meddle in the 2016 presidential election. But the probe has expanded to include tax issues, lobbying, and business practices of Trump associates that the president’s supporters say have nothing to do with Russian interference in American elections."
